Old Film

This first roll of film was discovered still inside the camera when I dug it out of its box. The first four pictures are from Christmas time 2007. Unfortunately, some of the film was exposed, so many of these old pictures are forever lost. Obviously , the film is long expired, by at least 10+ years; the quality isn't the greatest.

The photos of my dog (Jake) were the first pictures I've taken with a 35mm camera. I assume the old photos were taken by my mother.

New Hobby

These photos showcase my first full roll of film and how I used the camera. Being new to this hobby, I looked and traveled around to find the subject of my next photo. I hadn't yet built up a knowledge of photography concepts and techniques; I didn't even understand the difference between different ISO film speeds.

I'm pretty much going around taking pictures of anything, just so I can feel and hear the mechanical sounds of the camera working. Few things are as satisfying.

Second Camera Tryout

With this roll of film I began utilizing a different point and shoot camera than before: The Olympus Stylus. It's basically the same camera but more compact and with less features. I wanted to get a feel for how this camera worked, which is pretty similar to it's upgraded cousin. This roll captures the same style and soul of the previous; seeking the satisfying thrill of a new hobby.

Around School and Campus

As I grew more comfortable with the camera, I brought it to more places, including: Sarku Japan, Baldwin Wallace University, and my church. I was able to catch the last moments of Fall before the transition into Winter began.

A theme of this set is emptiness; a majority of the pictures show scenes of empty buildings, classrooms, and public outdoor areas. It's only till the end do we see where all the people are: the Jack Frost Parade! Looking through these pictures gives me conflicting feeling of loneliness and holiday warmth.
